We scaled this Astrology newsletter from 0 subscribers to over 45k subscribers only using Meta ads.
Challenges:
Getting quality subscribers with high open rate and high CTR was one challenge. For the context, this niche has the open rate at around 25% on average, and it’s pretty saturated.
Another challenge is monetizing them.
What we’ve done:
We’ve thoroughly researched everything we could about the niche. We found there were ads made for quiz funnel and we modeled those ads. This allowed us to get CPA to $0.5-0.8 range but presented a challenge of lower engagement.
We’ve tested over 20 different creatives and found an interesting thing. Nothing could beat the cost per subscriber the original ads were getting, but engagement-wise, the new ads we’ve found were beating the old ads at least 2x.
So we were getting 20-30% higher cost per subscriber but higher open rate and click through rate audience. This allowed us to get subscribers that were profitable and monetizable long-term.
We’ve segmented targeting by IOS and android to assess which device segmentation brings better quality subscribers.
