Delivery decisions

Ping-post or direct post: which fits your buying program?

Choose the delivery method around the decision your business needs to make. A more complicated integration is only useful when it solves a real buying requirement.

The practical answer

Direct post sends a lead to a buyer in one delivery request. Ping-post adds an evaluation step before the final delivery. Either can support a well-run exclusive lead program; exclusivity must be agreed separately.

Compare the decision, not just the number of requests

When direct post is a sensible starting point

Direct posting fits a source and buyer that have already agreed on product, geography, pricing and delivery. The buyer still needs validation, caps, duplicate checks and a clear success response. One request does not mean “accept everything.”

For a first source or a small set of stable markets, a direct workflow may be easier to reconcile. Make sure a rejected submission does not create a billable record and that the accepted lead reaches the team that follows up.

When the extra ping earns its place

Ping-post becomes useful when the buyer needs to make a pre-delivery decision based on the opportunity and current buying rules. That may involve dynamic pricing, source selection or capacity checks. The source can evaluate the response before deciding whether to complete delivery.

The additional step introduces transaction state. Agree on any returned reference, how long it remains valid and what happens if the buyer’s capacity changes. A high ping acceptance rate is not the same thing as a high number of successfully purchased leads.

The platform’s labels are not the whole architecture

A workflow can contain both methods. A source may ping a distribution platform while a downstream buyer receives a direct post. Lead Prosper documents this kind of mixed configuration. Ask which system performs each decision instead of assuming a campaign label describes every connection.

The same care applies to the CRM. Buying software decides whether and where to accept a lead. A CRM generally holds the follow-up record. Keep the handoff between them visible in logs and reporting.

Questions to answer before selecting a method

For Adsora, begin with the markets and lead types you want to buy. Include your existing platform and whether you already have buyer posting instructions. The delivery discussion should follow the commercial fit, not replace it.

  • Does the buyer need a bid or decision before receiving the final submission?
  • Are prices fixed for the campaign or calculated for each opportunity?
  • Which system owns filters, duplicates and purchase caps?
  • How does the source learn whether a lead was actually accepted?
  • Who handles uncertain results after a timeout?
  • How is the accepted lead assigned to a branch or appointment team?
Questions buyers ask

Before we get started.

Is ping-post always better than direct post?

No. It adds a useful decision step for some programs and unnecessary complexity for others. Choose based on pricing, acceptance and routing requirements.

Can a direct-post lead still be rejected?

Yes. The buyer can reject a submission under the agreed criteria. Parse the business response and define the billable event explicitly.

Does ping-post mean leads are shared?

No. Shared versus exclusive describes the sale and distribution agreement. Ping-post describes a delivery and decisioning process.
